The Velvet Aperture is a multimedia studio with a focus on photography. They specialize in portraits, intimate weddings, and milestone celebrations, with an emphasis on natural light and candid emotions to tell unique stories

Designing the Velvet Aperture website was a fun challenge, honestly. My main goal was to create a digital space that felt as warm and inviting as the photography itself, mirroring that ‘velvet’ touch in the user experience.

I started by really digging into the feel of Velvet Aperture’s work. Lots of soft textures, beautiful bokeh, and genuine smiles. For the UI, this translated into a clean, minimalist layout with subtle animations that enhanced the feeling of gentle movement and flow. I opted for a rich, muted color palette: deep creams and soft greens to evoke that luxurious ‘velvet’ feel without being overly dark.
